Our Story

Reaching for the Moon

Half Moon Bouldering, the brain child of immigrant couple Daniel and Gloria Man, opened in March 2021, a dream five years in the making. Despite our mid-pandemic launch, our community thrived, a testament to the need for connection and the dedication of our family-owned business.

We believe everyone deserves access to recreation and social connection.
We envision a place that feels like home.

HMB's mission is intrinsically connected with our founders' personal history. Daniel and Gloria grew up in a communist dictatorship that ruled by fear and deprivation. As children they found solace in nature and outdoor communities. Their childhood experiences in a surveillance society, and later as accepted professionals in a new country, drive Half Moon Bouldering's commitment to inclusivity and access expansion.

We offer sustainable programs and dedicated spaces for diverse communities. Did you know we provide weekly discounted access for underserved communities and free community yoga? You are warmly invited to join our LGBTQIA+, Women's, and BIPOC nights, as well as our Free Yoga Sundays.

Today, what started as a two person initiative is a team effort sustained by 20+ idealists and amplifiers in the thousands. Our  community has been growing steadily, no small feat for a mom's and pop's shop in the current climate of ever compacting businesses. Bolstered by generous Members who share our values and support our mission, Half Moon Bouldering fosters a "reach for the moon" atmosphere of kindness and care. We're taking this journey together and looking forward to all the joint endeavors ahead of us.

Thank you for keeping us true and relevant.
